MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government has accorded formal approval for the establishment of a state-of-the-art fully-equipped Kashmir Institute of Urology and Renal Transplantation at state-run Mirpur Divisional Teaching Hospital, soon, said official sources.
In this regard, an official notification was issued by the AJK government which said, “The President, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, has been pleased to accord approval in principle regarding establishment of Kashmir Institute of Urology and Renal Transplantation Centre at Divisional Head Quarter Hospital Mirpur AJK”.

The government has nominated Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed, Head of Urology Department Medical College Mirpur as focal Person for facilitation, fundraising and further deliberation to complete the task.
Unveiling saliant features of the project, Medical Superintendent Mirpur Divisional Headquarters Hospital Dr. Aamir Aziz, Principal Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical Hospital Dr. Faisal Bashir and the focal Person of the project Dr. Raja Ashfaq said that formal notification for establishment of the project, to be first of its own kind in AJK, has been issued.
According to the details, the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir formally approved the establishment of a transplant center for people suffering from kidney diseases, in Mirpur.
