Mirpur police seize alcohol worth Rs10 million from illegal liquor factory

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Mirpur Police has seized thousands of liters of alcohol and raw materials worth Rs10 million from an illegal liquor factory within the limits of Thothal police station.

During the raid on the liquor factory, which was operating within the residential area, the police also arrested the factory owner Raja Gulzar alias Gullu, a resident of Jatlan Gorsian.

As soon as the factory was reported to the police, a large contingent of cops including Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz, SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat, SP Raja Amir Nawabi, and SHO Thothal Police Station Haji Sikandar Azam reached the spot.

It was also learned that the accused was previously on bail under Section 302 while he was involved in several drug trafficking cases.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat said that pure alcohol worth Rs1o million, a dozen cans, alcohol bottles, plastic equipment, and other items used in the alcohol manufacturing have been seized.

While talking to the media, the SSP Mirpur said that Mirpur Police has maintained zero-tolerance against drug peddlers on the special instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Azad Kashmir.

The police official also said that they had previously arrested a group of international drug peddlers along with drugs.

Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz said, “There is no amnesty for those involved in drugs and other crimes” and vowed to cleanse the district of drugs and the police will pay a heavy price for this.

We have to pay, but we are ready to pay such a price for the future of the nation and our children.
