Mirpur Police arrest man accused for Umrah ticket scam

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Mirpur Police on Saturday arrested a man accused of extorting Rs 7 lakh from a citizen on the pretext of Umrah tickets.

Police said that the Thothal Police Station team, led by SHO Faisal Siddique, apprehended Syed Jawad Hisan Shah, currently residing in Islamabad, from DHA in the federal capital.

According to the police, Shah had taken the money from a victim, promising to provide Umrah tickets, but disappeared without fulfilling his commitment.

A sum of Rs. 3 lakh has been recovered from the accused, and efforts are underway to recover the remaining amount, police said.
