MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Mirpur Food Authority carried out operations in Islamgarh, Dadyal and Mirpur tehsils and imposed heavy fines on several food points, bakers, fast food points for poor sanitation and non-compliance of the instructions of the Food Authority.
A team comprising Deputy Food Controller/Divisional Food Safety Officer Ijaz Ahmed Qamar and Imtiaz Hussain Lal District Food Controller/Food Safety Officer Mirpur, Assistant Food Safety Officers Asif Riaz, Shaukat Iqbal, Sajid Hussain, Raja Shahid Mahmood, Sheikh Imran and supporting staff carried out operations in Islamgarh, Dadyal and Mirpur tehsils and imposed heavy fines on violating business points.
Mirpur food chain fined
Hot & Spicy food chain in Mirpur was fined Rs25,000 after inspection and investigation on a social media complaint.
It was strictly warned to overcome shortcomings at the earliest, otherwise a criminal case will be registered against it and the premises would also be sealed.
The officials said that it is the responsibility of the Food Authority to ensure quality and hygienic food to the public. “No one will be allowed to play with the precious lives of the public.”
Meanwhile, five butchers were arrested in Muzaffarabad for overpricing meat in Mutton Market and Gilani Chowk during a crackdown led by the Assistant Commissioner.
Assistant Commissioner Ghulam Mohiuddin took strict action against butchers selling meat over and above the government fixed rate.
The operation targeted Mutton Market and Gilani Chowk, where five butchers were arrested for overcharging customers.
After the arrest, First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered against these violators.
They were then also shifted to the City Police Station for further legal proceedings. These actions aim to enforce price regulations in the region, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The authorities seek to enforce the price regulations and ensure that the regulations are followed and people are charged at only government-approved rates.
In recent months, the authorities have been very active. Many crackdowns have taken place in the region, and many shopkeepers have been arrested.
