Mirpur to be air-linked with rest of the world soon: AJK Minister

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Minister for Physical Planning, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Yasir Sultan Chaudhry has said that initial work for the much-needed Mirpur International Airport has been started as he said that the AJK government was determined to establish the Airport, meeting the local public demand.

He said the construction of the airport was the long-cherished demand of the people of Mirpur, the city of over a million of UK-based Kashmiri expatriates.

The Minister said that the incumbent AJK government was determined to provide quality higher education in various professional disciplines to produce quality future architects of the nation.

He was speaking as chief guest at a reception hosted in his honour by the City’s distinguished civil society notables including Prof. Dr. Naeem Ratayal, newly-inducted Registrar Mirpur University of Science & technology; Dr. Azeem Rattayal; Javed Akhter Ratayal; Muhammad Nawaz Rattayal; Danayal Ratayal; Halal Ratayal and others.

Notables including Dr. Azeem Ratyal, Nawaz Ratyal, Khalid Ratyal, Professor Shahzada Iqbal, Prof. Dr. Anzer of the Electrical Engineering Department of MUST, Sr. Professor Electrical Engineering Department and ex DSA MUST Prof. Dr. Shahid Amin, Engineer Attique, Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society AJK Chapter Sardar Shafeeq, ex city Administrator Qayyum Qamer, Sohail Shujah Mujahid, Babar Ali Khan Advocate, ex AJKCCI President Faisal Manzoor, Sohail Shuja Mujahid, area councilor Ch. Jehangir and others addressed the ceremony.

They paid rich tributes to the AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry and the sitting AJK government for focusing special attention to ensure quality higher education under the able guidance and leadership of the Prime Minister Ch. Anwar ul Haq, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Brig. (Retd) Younis Javed and Secretary Higher Education AJK Muhammad Tayyeb Chaudhry.

Unveiling the top priorities of the sitting government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Minister Yasir Sultan said that the government was determined to the success of Kashmir freedom struggle, good governance and the speedy socio-economic progress and prosperity through the delivery of quality education in the liberated territory of AJK.

Applauding MUST for the delivery of quality education in over 25 disciplines of science, engineering and information technology, the minister called upon the students to lend all of their skills and talent to be emerged as the quality future architects of the nation.

Underlining their due responsibilities to raise the Kashmir issue both at national and international level, Yasir Sultan advised the students to ensure maximum use of the social media for highlighting the importance of early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue.

He advocated for the legitimate right of self-determination of over 20 million people of the Jammu and Kashmir state.

Our young generation, the minister added, will have to move for positive use of this fast-rising regime of information technology to apprise the external world of the ugly situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Concluding the AJK Minister said that economically strong, prosperous and democratic Pakistan enriched with strong credibility the world over was the guarantee to the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian yoke.

Yasir Sultan strongly condemned the continued reign of state terrorism in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir where India was massively using the worst weapons of pallet guns to blind the young boys and girls to suppress their voice for freedom.
