MIRPUR (Kashmir English): An eleven-member medical response team has been dispatched to Halmat to provide emergency healthcare to snow-affected areas of upper Neelum Valley.
On Friday, an emergency medical response team — comprising six male and five female doctors — was airlifted using military helicopters. Additional Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Syed Imran Abbas Naqvi sent off the emergency medical mission from Muzaffarabad on the direction of Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq.
This collaborative effort with the Pakistan Army was initiated following reports of insufficient healthcare facilities and rising medical emergencies in these isolated areas.
The emergency medical mission has been headed the Central Vice Chairman, Young Doctors Association Azad Kashmir, Dr Waqar Ashraf Butt and comprised of Dr. Bilal Rabbani, Dr. Yasir Rana, Dr. Haroon, Dr. Tanveer, Dr. Zara Alawat, Dr. Saman, Dr. Laiba Kiani, Dr. Mahersh Batool, Dr. Maila Khan and Dr. Kainat Rafaqat.
The emergency medical mission 3 will stay in Halmat till Eid ul Fitr 2025.
Earlier last month, an eight-member medical team was also dispatched to Halmat under the supervision of the Prime Minister AJK and Chief Secretary AJK.
Multiple organizations under the leadership of Commissioner Rehman join forces to lead emergency response actions in which respectively the Public Health Department, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Medical Association and Young Doctors Association are involved.
The Pakistan Army helped establish this emergency medical mission to Halmat. Previously too, the Pakistan Army has arranged free medical camps to aid the locals.
The Pakistan Medical Association along with the Young Doctors Association established previous medical camps in Halmat. The program launches its operations based on guidelines provided by the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir for providing medical help directly to snow-affected community members.
