LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government has announced the relaxation regarding the uniform policy for the students of the public colleges across the province, keeping in view the intensity of cold weather.

In a notification, the Directorate of Public Instruction (Colleges) has stated that the students can wear a jersey, sweater, or coat of any colour till February 28.

“Keeping in view the ongoing cold wave across the Punjab, it has been desired by the Competent Authority that students of Public Sector Colleges may wear jersey/sweater/blazer/coat/jacket/cap/socks/shoes of any colour till 28th February 2026,” the notification stated.

The notification will remain in effect until February 28, providing relief to students during the ongoing cold spell.

In a separate development, the Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat will chair a meeting later today to review the situation regarding the extension of the winter break or opening of schools and colleges on January 12.

However, in yesterday’s post on X, the minister clarified that all schools and colleges across the province will reopen on January 12.

The clarification comes after a reportedly fake notification circulated on social media claiming that winter vacations in Punjab had been extended from January 10 to 17. The education minister rebuffed claims of extending winter holidays, urging the public to “avoid fake news.”
