NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): After days of heavy snowfall in Upper Neelum Valley, the main highway has been finally restored, providing significant relief to the commuters.
As per reports, the highway has been reopened for traffic up to Taobat.
The roads and highways were restored after significant efforts from local PWD workers and other officials who were busy providing facilities in difficult times.
Chikar Bazar traffic
Regular traffic jams and chaotic traffic at the main bazaar in Chikar, Jhelum Valley, have become a serious problem for the residents and the business community.
In particular, heavy traffic pressure and illegal parking at various points in Chikar Main Bazaar have severely affected the free movement of the public.
Representatives of the public and civil society say that despite repeated complaints, the civil and police administration have failed to take effective action, causing the situation to worsen day by day.
According to the traders’ community, traffic congestion and parking issues have significantly reduced customer turnout, negatively impacting business activities.
Citizens have demanded that, before the holy month of Ramadan, additional traffic police personnel be deployed in Chikar Main Bazaar, a one-way traffic plan be immediately and effectively implemented to ease congestion, and indiscriminate action be taken against illegal parking.
Public circles have warned that if timely measures are not taken, the situation may deteriorate further during Ramadan.
Residents and traders have appealed to the district administration and relevant departments to consider these serious public issues and implement immediate practical measures to restore business activities and smooth public movement.
It is worth mentioning that Chakar Sub-Division is an important commercial hub of Jhelum Valley district and is considered one of the busiest markets in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
