MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Justice Liaquat Shaheen, currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) High Court, has been officially appointed as the permanent Chief Justice of the AJK High Court.

A notification to declare Justice Liaquat Shaheen as the Permanent Chief Justice has been issued.

The notification is to take effect on and from the date when Justice Liaquat Shaheen takes oath as the Permanent Chief Justice of AJK High Court.

Senior-most judge, Justice Sardar Liaqat Shaheen, has been officially appointed as the permanent Chief Justice of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court. The notification confirming his appointment was issued by the Department of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

Justice Shaheen hails from the Sudhanoti district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He has previously served in the lower judiciary and brings with him vast experience in the legal field.

On June 9, he had taken oath as the acting Chief Justice.

His appointment as permanent Chief Justice comes following the retirement of former Chief Justice Sadaqat Hussain. Justice Shaheen is expected to serve in this position for nearly two years.

He will soon take the oath of office as Chief Justice of the AJK High Court, which will be administered by the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry.
