MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A common leopard has been found dead on a road in Muzaffarabad’s Basant Kot village on Friday.
A wildlife official has said that the big cat was found dead on Batangi Road, as a large number of people from the area reached the spot.
The Wildlife officials have taken the dead leopard into custody and have filed a complaint with the police station against unknown persons.
According to locals, dead leopards have been found in this area before, and they fear that some group is harming these leopards.
The presence of leopards has been noted in the forests on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad.
Earlier, a similar incident was reported on April 12, where a rare leopard was killed in the forests of Chakothi, Jhelum Valley district.
The animal was first shot and injured before being poisoned and killed in an extremely painful manner.
