Landmine defused in Bhimber village near LoC

BHIMBER (Kashmir English):  A bomb disposal squad on Thursday defused a landmine in Khoh Pani Bandala village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Bihmber district.

A spokesperson for Civil Defense Bhimber said that the mine had flowed into a drain from the Indian side in a village in Samahni and was safely defused.

The squad, under the supervision of Commander Gul Sher, acted immediately on the complaint of Khalid Mahmood, a shopkeeper at Bandala village.

The timely action was appreciated by the locals, who praised their effective response to the potential threat, the spokesperson said.

On this occasion, the Bomb Disposal Squad appealed to the public to immediately report mines or other suspected explosives near the LoC during the rains to the relevant authorities so that safety measures can be taken and lives can be safed.
