ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Defence Minister Khawaja Asif strongly criticized the Afghan Taliban regime over what he termed the “false claims” that Pakistani forces targeted the Rehab Center in Kabul, accusing them of violence and betrayal despite Pakistan’s long-standing support.

In a statement shared on X, Khawaja Asif alleged that extending hospitality to Afghanistan was the biggest blatant mistake in the country’s history, adding that Pakistan had extended hospitality for generations, but was now being targeted by the same elements.

Asif further said that those making accusations against Pakistan were themselves involved in attacks on mosques, civilians, markets, and educational institutions.

“This claim is coming from those who carry out attacks on mosques. They martyr prostrating worshippers. They target unarmed civilians and markets, schools,” he wrote on X.

He said such elements have targeted innocent people, including children, and have been engaged in criminal activities such as drug trafficking.

The Defence Minister further said, “They drench innocent children in blood. Drug smuggling is their source of income. Benefactor-killing people are attacking this state, which has sheltered them for fifty years.”

They [Afghan regime] make commitments but do not honor them; they demand ransom for billions of rupees committed to be fulfilled, he added.

Moreover, the minister concluded that Pakistan’s soil not only sheltered them; it clashed with a superpower for them.

“We [Pakistan] extended hospitality to three generations. We have made many mistakes, but their hospitality is the biggest blatant mistake. May Allah forgive us, amen,” he wrote.
