GENEVA (Kashmir English): In observance of the 58th session of the UN, Kashmiris protested under the Broken Chair in Geneva for their rights and freedom.
The demonstration was organized by Zahid Iqbal Hashmi, Chairman of the Kashmir International Peace Forum Europe, who had taken a trip from Paris to plead Kashmir’s rights.
Slogans such as “Indian army, leave our Kashmir” and “oppression, oppression” were shouted in condemnation of India’s actions in the region.
Hashmi stressed the need for dialogue toward a peaceful settlement, accusing the Modi government of allowing the issue to fester.
The demographic composition of Kashmir, he warned, is being changed and the Muslim population is targeted. Hashmi called on the UN to intervene and pass resolutions for the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
He alleged India has imposed various restrictions on foreign visitors to conceal its atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
Among other leading personalities, Malik Owais, Amjad Yousuf, and Altaf Wani came to speak to the protesters, supporting Hashmi in demanding freedom and self-determination for Kashmiris.
