ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Former Federal Minister, central leader of Muslim League (N) Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that Kashmiris living across the ceasefire line and those residing in Pakistan are one adding the demand to strip Kashmiris residing in Pakistan of their identity is unacceptable.

“A betrayal of the Kashmir freedom movement”

In a message released on social media, Khawaja Saad Rafique said that any attempt or demand to reduce the number or count of Kashmiris would be a betrayal of the Kashmir freedom movement, which is unacceptable in any way.

He said that no power in the world can snatch Kashmiris of their identity and citizenship. “India is consistently settling non-Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir to convert the majority into a minority in Kashmir.”

The PML-N leader said that the roots of Kashmiris residing in Pakistan extend from occupied Jammu and Kashmir to Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The demand to cut these roots is against the great cause of Kashmir’s freedom, he added.

Addressing the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), Rafique said, “Make demands, ask questions, seek answers, and if necessary, wage a peaceful political struggle for your legitimate rights, but the demand to strip Kashmiris residing in Pakistan of their identity is not a legitimate demand”.

It is to be noted that the Joint Awami Action Committee has announced a protest in Azad Kashmir on September 29. The Action Committee is demanding the abolition of seats for refugees, which is drawing a reaction.
