MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Kashmiri leaders have announced plans to hold protests on August 5, Tuesday, against the Indian government’s actions in occupied Kashmir, marking the sixth anniversary of the decision to revoke Article 370.
While talking to the media, Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, PPP leader Shaukat Javed Mir, Syed Asif Gilani, and other political and social leaders vowed to continue supporting the resistance against Indian oppression and tyranny until freedom is achieved.
They said that a rally will be organized at Burhan Wani Shaheed Chowk at 9 am on August 5 to raise voice against India’s illegal occupation and its imperialist measures of August 5, 2019.
“Black flags will be hoisted, and protest demonstrations will be organized in all three divisions and 10 districts of Azad Kashmir,” the leaders said.
They stated that the brutal tactics of the Indian government in occupied Kashmir cannot crush the Kashmir resistance movement.
They were of the view that India had violated all the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, and thousands of Kashmiri citizens have been arrested under black laws.
The leaders also announced to present a resolution at the UN Observer Office on August 5, demanding that the United Nations, European Union, and OIC declare the Indian actions of August 5, 2019, null and void, and also reject the biased and political decision of the Indian Supreme Court regarding Kashmir on December 11, 2021.
On August 5, 2019, India revoked Article 370, stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special autonomy. This move was met with widespread resistance from Kashmiri people, and the region has seen significant repression, including mass arrests, enforced disappearances, and restrictions on freedom of expression.
