ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government has announced that February 5, 2026 (Thursday) will be a public holiday across the country on the occasion of Kashmir Day.
Kashmir Day is celebrated every year in Pakistan to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people, and on this day, special events, rallies, seminars, and prayer gatherings are organised across the country.
The purpose of this day is not only to support the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people but also to inform the public about the historical, political, and human importance of this issue.
As every year, in 2026, various government and private institutions will organize activities on this occasion to raise a voice against human rights violations and to draw attention of the international community towards the Kashmir issue.
Kashmir Day
This holiday will apply to all federal and provincial government offices, educational institutions, and most private offices. The decision has been made under a formal notification issued by the Cabinet Division, which includes Kashmir Day among the nationally recognized important days of the country, such as Pakistan Day (March 23) and Independence Day (August 14).
Kashmir Day celebrations at official and unofficial levels will include rallies, seminars, and prayer gatherings, in which support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people will be expressed and the importance of their rights will be highlighted globally.
The government also aims for this day to be not only memorable but also to promote awareness and solidarity among the public regarding the Kashmir issue.
