Justice Aminuddin Appointed First Chief Justice of Federal Constitutional Court

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Supreme Court judge Justice Aminuddin Khan has been appointed as the first Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) after the enactment of the 27th Constitutional Amendment on Thursday.

President Asif Ali Zardari has approved “the appointment of Justice Aminuddin as Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan with effect from the date he takes the oath of his office,” the notification from the Ministry of Law and Justice stated.

The notification said the President made the appointment under clause (3) of Article 175-A, read with Article 175-C of the Constitution. Zardari made Justice Aminuddin’s appointment on the advice of the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif.

Earlier, Justice Aminuddin was serving as the head of the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The development came after the Parliament gave its nod to the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure (Amendment) Bill 2025 regarding the establishment of the Federal Constitutional Court through the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
