MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Mirpur’s Joint Awami Action Committee held a meeting today where civil society and traders condemned the baton charge on the Tailors Association and demanded legal action within five days.

A joint meeting of the Joint Awami Action Committee was held in Mirpur,  Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), attended by members of civil society, the traders’ association, councillors, and other representatives. The participants strongly condemned the recent baton charge on the Tailors’ Association and demanded immediate legal action against those responsible.

Many meeting attendees voiced their criticism regarding the police force that exceeded proper limits while suppressing the Tailors’ Association members whom they rightly described as peaceful citizens.

The group emphasized immediate FIR registration because they demanded accountability from the people responsible for the incident. The participants showed support for the affected tailors and stated that police aggression against peaceful people would not be accepted.

The committee provided five days to the administration to address the situation before the members would decide their next steps. The group emphasized immediate FIR registration because they demanded accountability from the people responsible for the incident. The participants showed support for the affected tailors and stated that police aggression against peaceful people would not be completely unacceptable.

The committee provided five days to the administration to address the situation before the members would decide their next steps. The participants established a deadline for justice delivery after which they threatened to arrange another gathering to determine future actions.

Everyone watches the local administration to see if they will handle the demands before the deadline. More protests might occur if the government fails to take suitable legal action.
