JERUSALEM: Israel’s military on Thursday claimed to have hit a site in Iran being used to develop nuclear weapons.
In a post on X, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the ‘Taleghan’ compound, a site used by the Iranian regime to advance nuclear weapons capabilities, has been struck.
“The Israeli Air Force, acting on precise IDF intelligence, struck an additional Iranian nuclear programme site,” the military said.

“The compound was used to develop advanced explosives and conduct sensitive experiments as part of the covert ‘AMAD’ project in the 2000s,” the IDF wrote on X.
The Taleghan compound likely refers to a facility in Parchin, southeast of Tehran, where US-based think tank the Institute for Science and International Security, which has been monitoring Iran’s nuclear programme, recently claimed the Islamic Republic conducts covert military activities.
3 million displaced
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has said that up to 3.2 million people have been displaced inside Iran since the Middle East war began on February 28.
“Between 600,000 and one million Iranian households are now temporarily displaced inside Iran as a result of the ongoing conflict, according to preliminary assessments, representing up to 3.2 million people,” said the UNHCR emergency support team head.
“This figure is likely to continue rising as hostilities persist, marking a worrying escalation in humanitarian needs,” he said in a statement.
“Families have been forced to flee their homes at a moment’s notice as the crisis unfolds,” UNHCR said on X.
Iran says targeted Israel and US sites in UAE, Iraq
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they had targeted Israel as well as US sites in the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Kuwait.
“The gathering place of American forces on Sheikh Zayed Road (Dubai) and the location of American forces at Ahmad Al-Jaber Airport (Kuwait) were targeted,” said the Guards’ Sepah News website.
“The residence of American marines at Al-Dhafra base (UAE) and the mobile American bases in Iraq, along with the gathering place of Zionist executioners in Tel Aviv, have been struck,” it added.
