MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have seized hundreds of Islamic books from shops.

These books were published by New Delhi-based Markazi Maktaba Islami Publishers, which is associated with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

Jamaat-e-Islami leaders have strongly condemned the confiscation, stating that this action is not only unjust but also unconstitutional and a blatant violation of fundamental rights.

They said imposing such restrictions is unacceptable in any civilized society.

Confiscation of books reflects anti-Muslim ideology

The confiscation of Islamic books by the Modi government is another clear example of its anti-Muslim ideology, they believed.

The reason for the confiscation is that India wants to detach Kashmiris from their Islamic identity.

Few days back, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has also expressed serious concern over the crackdown on Islamic and historical books aimed at detaching Kashmiris from their Islamic identity.

In a statement, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas had condemned the Hindutva regime led by Manoj Sinha for targeting Islamic literature.

He said the Manoj Sinha-led administration is working on the RSS agenda to alter Kashmir’s Muslim character through Hindutva indoctrination in schools.

Meanwhile, Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has warned of an existential threat to occupied Jammu and Kashmir due to anti-Kashmiri measures, including the revocation of special status, confiscation of land and identity loss.

He urged all communities to unite against these threats as he rejected proposals for separate settlements for Kashmiri Pandits.
