ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The residents of the federal capital are enjoying the rainy weather, which began in the evening and is still ongoing, bringing relief from the scorching heat of the sun.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a Westerly wave rules the upper portion of Pakistan. Intermittent rains and windstorms are projected from Friday and Saturday in the twin cities and at isolated locations in Potohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Additionally, heavy rains and hailstorms are also forecasted at a few locations in Kashmir, the Potohar area, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Moreover, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned that five weather systems are expected to trigger thunderstorms, strong winds, hailstorms, and heavy downpours across various parts of the country.
In a weather advisory issued by NDMA’s National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC), all provincial and district authorities are advised to ensure emergency preparedness, remain vigilant, and coordinate with local response units for timely action.
The authority has also urged the public to remain cautious amid ongoing severe weather conditions.
In a public advisory, the citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly and flood-prone areas, secure weak structures, trees, power lines, and solar panels, and park vehicles in safe, covered locations.
