MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The District Health Officer (DHO) Mirpur on Tuesday formed an inquiry committee to investigate the death of a woman due to alleged negligence by staff at a private hospital in Mirpur.
The committee, comprising the chairperson, Dr. Maida Kausar, Additional District Health Officer Mirpur, and member Zaheer Iqbal, Deputy Drug Controller Mirpur, is ordered to submit its report within a week.
According to the district health office, a citizen named Shamsul Haq filed a complaint stating that the woman, Irfana Mukhtar, underwent a gynecological operation at the Best Medicare Private Hospital in Mirpur on July 11.
He further said that the doctors, including Dr. Ahmed Mahmood and Dr. Usman Zafar, allegedly ignored necessary tests and precautions before the operation, leading to the patient’s death during the procedure.
“During the operation, according to the doctor, the patient’s blood pressure shot up, and after a while, it was said that the patient’s heart stopped, leading to the death during the operation,” the complaint added.
