ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, has said that India is responsible for the recent flood damage in Pakistan, and the international community should stand with Pakistan on this issue.

Addressing an important meeting regarding the Indus Waters Treaty and Pakistan’s water crisis, Asim Iftikhar said that the floods destroyed crops and displaced people, so India should not use water as a weapon.

He said that the Modi government has damaged the credibility of international assurances by violating the Indus Waters Treaty and India is obliged to share data under the law.

He also condemned the unprovoked attack on Qatar by Israel and said that it is a blatant violation of international laws. Asim Iftikhar also made it clear that Pakistan supports a peaceful and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.

The Pakistani delegate, responding forcefully to the alleged remarks of the Israeli representative, said that the misuse of the UN House by an occupying and aggressor country is unacceptable.

He also exposed Israel’s continuous violation of international laws, threatening behavior and pretense of victimhood.

Asim Iftikhar, while highlighting Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts, said that Pakistan played a prominent role in the global war on terrorism and significantly dismantled Al-Qaeda’s operations.

He stressed that Pakistan will not accept criticism from any irresponsible state, especially the state that is committing state terrorism in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
