SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): Indian forces, in their unabated acts of state terrorism, martyred 10 Kashmiris this year so far in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a report released by the Kashmir Media Service, eight of these Kashmiris were martyred in fake encounters or in custody.
During the period, the Indian army, paramilitary forces, police, and sleuths of the dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA) arrested as many as 933 Hurriyat leaders, activists, youth, students, and women.
At least 32 persons were injured due to the use of brute force and teargas shells on peaceful protesters by Indian forces’ personnel.
A house was also damaged by troops during cordon and search operations in the period.
Role of occupied Kashmir administration
The IIOJK administration, under the direct control of New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, continued punitive measures by attaching properties, including homes and land, of over 43 Kashmiris in the last three months.
Additionally, nine Kashmiri Muslim employees were suspended from their government jobs as part of the ongoing anti-Kashmir policies of the BJP regime.
The troops martyred two youth in a fake encounter in the last month of March.
The report said India is using state terrorism as an official policy to punish Kashmiris for challenging its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir.
It maintained that IIOJK has witnessed a new wave of oppression after Narendra Modi came to power, with fake encounters, killings, abductions, and torture by Indian forces becoming a routine matter in the territory.
The report added that Indian troops’ brutalities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir increased to an alarming level after the RSS-backed BJP regime, through military force, illegally revoked the special status of the territory by abrogating Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019.
It maintained that the lives of Kashmiris have been made economically, politically, and socially miserable, with the illegal move aimed at changing the Muslim-majority status of the territory into a minority.
