MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): India has been smuggling improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and weapons into the areas of Poonch, Bagh, Kotli, and Rawalakot of Azad Kashmir to target the civilian population across the Line of Control (LoC), senior AJK minister said.

While holding a press conference today, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Interior Minister Colonel (R) Waqar Ahmed Noor said that Pakistan has provided solid evidence of India’s illegal activities on LoC to United Nations officials.

The minister further said that India opened unprovoked fire to spread fear among civilians in Dewa and Baghsar sectors, to which the Pakistan Army responded befittingly, resulting in the injury of two Pakistan Army soldiers.

Earlier today, security sources said that India is attempting to carry out sabotage activities through the transportation and use of IEDs along the Line of Control.

There has been an increase in incidents of Indian IEDs being found and detonated in areas such as Chakothi, Neza Pir, Chari Kot, Rakh Chikri, Dewa, Battal, Kot Kotera, and other areas.

India’s unprovoked actions on the Line of Control have put the peace of the area at risk, Colonel (R) Waqar said.

“The Indian Army is trying its best to play such cunning tricks, but it is facing a backlash from the Pakistan Army. India has always made efforts to disrupt the peaceful environment of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on the Line of Control,” the minister added.

Furthermore, he told reporters that India has restored to unprovoked firing on the civilian population in recent days, along with the indiscriminate use of IEDs.

“Since 2016, the Indian army has been increasingly planting IEDs. So far, 54 IED incidents have been reported across the Line of Control, including Chakothi, Neza Pir, Cheri Kot, Rakh Chakdewa, Battal, and Kot Kotera,” the interior minister claimed.

He said that recently, according to evidence, IEDs, explosives, and drugs have been smuggled from across the working boundary of Bagh, Battal, Dewa, and Sialkot. “IEDs were recovered in the Battal and Rawalakot sector on February 4 and February 6, where a civilian was also martyred in an explosion,” he said.

Colonel Retd. Waqar Ahmed Noor said that the Indian army has always accused the Pakistan army of disturbing regional peace by creating a one-sided narrative and carrying out false flag operations, although the ground realities are the opposite. A recent example of this is the incident of IEDs in the Battal sector, which is obvious to everyone.

He said that according to the 47th resolution of the Security Council, a plebiscite is necessary, and “we are confident that the people of occupied Kashmir will accede only to Pakistan.”

“The world should realize that for the security of the region, the decision on Kashmir must be in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiris, which is essentially accession to Pakistan.”
