ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): India contacted Pakistan on Sunday under the Indus Waters Treaty regarding floods, informing it of a potential major flood situation in a first official contact since the Pahalgam incident.
According to official sources, India informed Pakistan of a potential major flood in the Tawi River at Jammu.
Official sources stated that the Indian High Commission in Islamabad informed Pakistan about the potential flood situation.
They said India made contact at 10am on August 24, providing Pakistan with advance notice of the potential flood situation.
A private TV channel quoted official sources to say that this is the first major contact of its kind since the India-Pakistan war in May.
The government of Pakistan also issued an alert based on the Indian information.
India suspended Indus Waters Treaty after Pahalgam incident
It is worth noting that after the Pahalgam incident, India had suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan and announced it would stop the water flow.
