NEW DELHI (Kashmir English): India has blocked the access to official X account of the government of Pakistan within its territory, following the deadly attack in Pahalgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Pahalgam incident claimed 26 lives
India claimed 26 people were killed and 17 injured in the attack.
The account now shows a message stating it has been “withheld in India in response to a legal demand.”
The decision to withhold the account is part of a series of diplomatic and strategic actions taken by New Delhi and Islamabad against each other, after the incident.
India has also announced to immediately suspend the Indus Water Treaty, a key water-sharing agreement mediated by the World Bank in 1960 as part of other retaliatory measures.
India cited Pakistan’s alleged support for the attack as justification for the suspension. Pakistan has however, rejected Indian claims as fabricated.
India also closed the Attari-Wagah border — the only land crossing between the two countries—and cancelled all South Asian regional visas issued to Pakistani nationals.
Those already in India under such visas have been given 48 hours to leave the country.
