DUBAI (Kashmir English): The cricket word os set to be on fire as Pakistan and India will be face to face playing the 2025 Asia Cup, this time in the Super Fours.

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium will once again host as the two sides meet, with memories of their previous encounter still fresh in their minds.

In a match that could have been so much of a 1986 or 1990–91 repeat, with political hostilities preventing one of the teams from coming, tonight’s clash is a testament to the fact that cricket still can bring Pakistan and India to the same platform, despite handshakes and match umpires being controversial.

India enters the Super Fours match against Pakistan as prohibitive favourites after brushing aside Pakistan last Sunday and otherwise sailing past Oman in a low-key encounter on Friday. But Pakistan, having won a morale-boosting game against the UAE, will be praying that the slate has indeed been wiped clean.

There is a chink of weakness in India’s camp. Their batting was still finding fluency against Oman’s left-arm swing, and Pakistan’s pace attack, in expectation, will be seeking to take advantage of that weak link. The Dubai track is once again expected to support the chase, which Pakistan will seek to take advantage of after ignoring it last week.

India’s depth is still daunting, yet Pakistan’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, excels in low-scoring games. If their top order can get into rhythm, the Green Shirts might turn the tables.

The lights come up on Dubai, and the stakes are greater. For India, it’s about maintaining supremacy. For Pakistan, it’s about redemption. And for cricketing fans everywhere, it’s another chapter in the game’s most legendary, and perhaps most bitter, rivalry.
