LEEPA VALLEY (Kashmir English): Heavy rains and hailstorms in the upper areas of Azad Kashmir, including Neelum Valley and Leepa Valley, have brought life to a standstill.
Intermittent rain continued in the lower areas of Neelum Valley, while downpour in Arang Kel, Gurez Valley, Sardari, Halmat, Janwai, Sargan, Shounter, Jagran Valley brought a noticeable drop in temperature as the intensity of cold increased.
Heavy rain in Aathmaqam and the surrounding areas of Neelum Valley caused widespread damage to the electricity and communication systems.
As the rainfall lashed the valleys, the district administration issued instructions to the citizens and tourists to take precautionary measures while traveling.
On the other hand, heavy rain and hailstorms wreaked havoc in the Leepa Valley on Wednesday evening.
The Leepa-Reshian Road was partially suspended due to landslides and falling trees at 4 places, while an increase in water flow was seen in the Qazi Nag drain.
Citizens have been facing severe difficulties, while the administration said that the Pakistan Army and the Highways Department will restore the road as soon as the weather clears.
SDO Highway Department said that the machinery will start working on this route at 4 am and the route will be restored as soon as possible.
The administration has requested the public not to travel on the Leepa-Reshian Road as there is a fear of further landslides, rocks and falling trees.
