KARACHI (Kashmir English): A solemn and historic guard-changing ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Saturday to mark Pakistan’s Defense and Martyrs’ Day, with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) cadets formally assuming guard duties at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation.
Air Vice Marshal Hassan Faisal, who attended the ceremony as chief guest, visited the mausoleum and laid a floral wreath at the grave of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
A contingent of PAF cadets took over the ceremonial responsibilities, reflecting the armed forces’ commitment to safeguarding the nation and honoring its national heroes.
The ceremony also paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s sovereignty, security and peace. Participants remembered the courage and sacrifices of the armed forces and the Pakistani nation in defending the homeland.
Remembering the 1965 War
Pakistan observes Defense Day every year on September 6 to commemorate the resistance and sacrifices made by the armed forces and the nation during the 1965 war.
On September 6, 1965, Indian forces launched a surprise attack on Pakistan under the cover of darkness. Pakistan’s armed forces, supported by the nation, responded with determination and resisted the aggression.
The day is observed as a reminder of the courage, resilience, and sacrifices demonstrated during the conflict.
Nation Pays Tribute to Martyrs and Ghazis
