ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday welcomed the recent successful talks between the government negotiation committee and the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), state-run APP reported.

The premier lauded members of the federal government and the JAAC negotiators for their individual and collective efforts, terming the development a “great achievement for Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir”.

Hailing the restoration of peace and statement, he stated, “conspiracies and rumors have finally come to an end, and all matters have been resolved amicably, Alhamdulillah.”

PM Shehbaz Sharif also thanked the members of the Joint Awami Action Committee for their role in the successful talks and congratulated them on the restoration of peace.

The premier emphasised that the government “is ever ready to resolve issues of Kashmiri brethren as public interest and service are among our top priorities.”

He appealed to the Kashmiri people not to pay heed to rumours. “We had always protected the rights of the Kashmiri people, and in the future, also their rights will be ensured.”

The statement came after the representatives of the government of Pakistan, the government of Azad Kashmir, and the members of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) had agreed to form a committee to oversee the implementation of the points agreed between the opposing sides.

The decision to this effect was taken after the hours-long, hectic round of talks between the parties that started on Friday evening and continued until Saturday morning.

The key issues discussed and agreed upon were the administrative crisis, elite privileges, and seats for Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan.

The meeting reviewed proposals, reservations, and demands from both sides and considered the formation of a consensus framework for a permanent solution to the problem.

In a post on X, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that our negotiating delegation has signed the final agreement with the Action Committee of Azad Kashmir.

He said that the protesters are returning to their homes. “All roads have opened.”

“This is a victory for peace. Long Live Azad Kashmir, Long Live Pakistan,” he wrote.

Members of the Federal Committee included Raja Pervez Ashraf, Former Prime Minister Pakistan; Rana Sanaullah, Federal Minister IPC; Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives; Qamar Zaman Kaira, Former Minister for Kashmir Affairs; Amir Majma, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs; Dr. Tariq Fazal Ch, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs; and Sardar Muhammad Yusuf, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs.
