MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Several important constitutional posts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have been lying vacant for a long time, severely affecting governance and public affairs.

As per details, four posts of judges in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court are still vacant, affecting the provision of justice to the citizens.

In addition, the appointments of the Chairman Service Tribunal, Chairman Ehtesab Bureau and Chief Election Commissioner have also been stalled.

Due to the vacancy of these crucial constitutional posts, not only are people facing difficulties in the provision of justice, but institutional work is also being severely affected.

According to sources, the process of appointments to these constitutional posts has been stalled since the current government came to power, which gives the impression that the government has failed to take serious steps on this important issue.

Earlier, the federal government formed a high-level committee under the chairmanship of Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister of Law and Justice, to appoint the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Azad Kashmir.

The committee, consisting of the Chief Secretary Azad Kashmir and the Secretary Kashmir Affairs, will submit a report within seven days, after which a Chief Election Commissioner will be appointed.
