ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government has decided to involve international organizations to assess the damages and needs caused by the recent floods.
The government would engage international organisations, including the United Nations agencies, to assess losses.
Sources said on Tuesday that international bodies will evaluate the scale of damage and the resources required for recovery.
Meanwhile, the World Bank is closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan. Sources within the institution said that consultations were underway regarding potential recovery measures for flood-affected communities.
Once the assessment is complete, appropriate steps will be taken based on the findings.
It is pertinent to note that Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal chaired a meeting, which was also attended by the Federal Finance Minister and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) high-ups.
According to Ahsan Iqbal, an initial assessment of flood damage will be completed within 10 days while the final estimate would only be possible once floodwaters fully recede.
