KARACHI (Kashmir English): A girl who went missing from Islamabad some 17 years ago has been found at the Edhi Centre in Karachi.
Kiran, now 27-years-old, was reunited with her father on Monday.
Recalling her ordeal, Kiran said she had gone out to get ice cream, but got lost adding someone took her to the Edhi Centre in Islamabad before she was brought to the Karachi centre by Bilquis Edhi.
Sabah Faisal Edhi, wife of the foundation’s chairperson, said that it took several trips to Islamabad to trace Kiran’s parents.
Kiran’s father, Abdul Majeed, said that after his daughter went missing, the family searched extensively but found no trace of her.
He further said that hope for her daughter had almost faded when, suddenly, police contacted them and informed of Kiran’s whereabouts.
He expressed his happiness at being reunited with his daughter after all these years saying, his joy is beyond measure.
Recalling her time at the Edhi Centre, Kiran said that she received both religious and worldly education and will always remember her time at the centre.
She said she “received the love of a mother and father,” learnt how to cook and sew, and was given strength when she lost hope of being reunited with her family.
The fifth girl
According to Edhi Foundation, Kiran is the fifth girl from Karachi whose parents have been traced.
