ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has invited the Ghizer heroes who saved 300 human lives to Islamabad.
Shepherds Wasiyaat Khan, Ansar, and Muhammad Khan of the Ghizer area of Gilgit-Baltistan have been invited to the Prime Minister’s House on the instructions of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister will present them with a special award in recognition of their early warning to the local population and saving hundreds of lives.
On this occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that Wasiyaat Khan, Ansar, and Muhammad Khan are heroes of the nation.
The Prime Minister further said that the entire nation, including me, is proud of these heroes of Gilgit-Baltistan.
It should be noted that the DIG Police announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for shepherd Wasiyaat Khan, who informed about the glacier collapse in Ghizer in time, while he was also presented with a certificate of appreciation.
In Ghizer, shepherd Wasiyaat Khan saved hundreds of lives by informing villagers about the glacier’s eruption on the telephone in time.
After Wasit Khan’s information, 100 houses in the village of Talidas were evacuated overnight, and about 200 people reached a high mountain location.
However, when the flood came, these empty houses were damaged, but precious lives were saved.
