RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, while addressing a grand farewell ceremony held in his honor at the Joint Staff Headquarters, presented important points on the domestic and regional security situation, future defense requirements, and the role of the armed forces.
In his address, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza said that today’s world is changing at an extraordinary and unimaginable pace, and the effects of this change are not only affecting Pakistan’s external security but are also leaving profound impacts on its internal stability and institutional strategy.
He said that these effects range from ‘hybrid warfare’ to the dangers of conventional war; therefore, the armed forces will have to work with greater coordination, cooperation, and single-mindedness than before.

Harmonisation among the three services is essential
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza said that he considers joint strategy and cooperation between the three armed forces, land, air, and navy, not just a wish but a ‘vital operational necessity’.
He said that organizational reforms are indispensable to meet future challenges, and further strengthening the joint system has become the need of the hour.
The forces should be fully empowered and equipped with modern capabilities:
During the ceremony, he stressed that: “I consider it essential that a fully empowered and adequately equipped armed forces is a practical necessity for the system. Our forces will have to be prepared for future wars through an integrated strategy.”
He said that in the context of the changing security situation in the region and modern warfare technology, Pakistan will have to make its defense preparations more integrated, modern, and effective.

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza concluded his address by saying that he offers his best wishes and prayers to the three services, especially the Joint Staff Headquarters. He said that no matter how the new command structure is formed, it should discharge its new responsibilities with honesty, determination, and professional commitment.

Senior officers of the three services, officials of the Joint Staff Headquarters, and military authorities attended the farewell ceremony.
The participants appreciated the professional services of General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, his leadership skills, and his efforts for the defense of the country.
