Former Pakistan Test cricketer Wazir Mohammad passes away at 95

BIRMINGHAM, UK (Kashmir English): Wazir Mohammad, former Test cricketer and elder brother of Pakistan’s cricket legend Hanif Mohammad, passed away in Birmingham, United Kingdom on Monday aged 95.

Wazir Mohammad was a key figure from the country’s golden cricketing era.

Wazir Mohammad played 20 Test matches

He played 20 Test matches for Pakistan, amassing 801 runs with his solid batting technique and good temperament.

He was among the first generation of Pakistani cricketers who helped establish the national team’s reputation in the international arena during the 1950s and 60s.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed deep sorrow over his passing, and paid tribute to Wazir Mohammad’s lifelong contributions to the sport.

“Wazir Mohammad’s services to cricket will always be remembered,” Naqvi said in his condolence message.

The PCB and cricketing fraternity across Pakistan extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, recognizing Wazir Mohammad’s legacy as part of the historic Mohammad brothers. It is to mention here that they laid the foundation of Pakistan cricket.
