Former AJK minister Hanif Awan passes away, PTI announces mourning

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Senior politician, former government minister Muhammad Hanif Awan (Lala Hanif) passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness.

His funeral prayer will be offered today (Tuesday) in Muzaffarabad at 2:30pm at the University Ground Chehla Bandi.

Muhammad Hanif Awan, a beloved personality of Muzaffarabad and former government minister, had been ill for a long time.

PTI Muzaffarabad Division has announced 3 days of mourning on the passing of Hanif Awan as it paid tribute to his services.

In a statement issued by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Azad Kashmir, the party said that the entire Azad Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad Division, has lost a principled political leader.

The party leadership and all political and social workers of Muzaffarabad Division share equally in the grief of the deceased’s son, Chief Organizer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf City Constituency Muzaffarabad, Muhammad Saeed Awan Advocate, and all family members.

“We pray to Allah Almighty to grant the deceased a high place in Jannah al-Firdous, ease his final journey, and grant patience to the bereaved family. Amen.”

Political leaders have also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of Hanif Awan.

Former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, in his condolence message, said that he was deeply saddened and grieved to hear the news of Hanif Awan’s passing.

“The void created by Hanif Awan’s death will not be filled for a long time. His valuable political and social services will be remembered for a long time.”
