MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwaar ul Haq has ordered officials to implement severe punishment for substandard food and profiteering during Ramadan in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). This instruction will safeguard consumer prices and maintain accessible quality essential goods.
The official statement issued by PM House indicates that the PM directed pertinent departments to implement rigorous price management systems and set controls for essential goods prices. The government takes this action as part of their Ramadan strategy to keep traders from using market demand spikes for their gain.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the health and well-being of citizens could not be compromised. He warned that legal action would be taken against those involved in overpricing or selling low-quality food items. No one will be allowed to put people’s health at risk for personal profit he aimed, making it clear that violators would face strict penalties.
To further strengthen food safety measures, mobile food testing laboratories have been provided to the state’s food department. The mobile testing facilities maintain essential importance for quality inspection of food products distributed throughout the area. Officials perform spontaneous testing at the marketplace to find and eliminate food products that do not meet quality standards.
The establishment of mobile food testing units demonstrates the government’s deep commitment to security in food safety during Ramadan because the seasonal holiday leads to altered food consumption practices and elevated essential goods requirements. Federal authorities must maintain high alert levels while striking down any organizations breaking official rules.
The new law targeting both profit-hiking and low-quality consumable goods sales will create better conditions for citizens to obtain safe and reasonable essential commodities through Ramadan. The government requests citizens to report all matters of price manipulation together with any complaints about unsatisfactory food products and pledges to prompt the resolution of these reports.
