MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir Food Authority has taken strong action against unhygienic food establishments in Ambore and Gojra in Muzaffarabad, including sealing hotels, imposing fines, and issuing warning notices to several eateries.

A Food Authority team, led by Assistant Food Safety Officer Qazi Shafiqur-ur-Rehman, conducted surprise inspections of hotels and bakeries in the area.

As per details, the famous Al-Awan Hotel in Ambur was sealed on the spot due to serious violations, including poor sanitation arrangements, the presence of insects, the use of dirty utensils, substandard food, and dirt in the kitchen area.

Moreover, a famous bakery in Gojra was inspected, and evidence of poor sanitation arrangements, violation of basic hygiene principles, and unsafe storage of food items was found.

The food authority team also inspected a food delivery vehicle where open goods were kept on the roof of the vehicle without covering, violating the Food Authority’s SOPs.

Food business operators were fined for the violations, and strict corrective notices were issued, the statement added.

District Food Controller Muzaffarabad Abrar Ahmed Mir stated that providing quality and healthy food to the public is the mission of the Food Authority, and no hotel or bakery will be allowed to compromise on public health.

He said that the Food Authority’s campaign to ensure the provision of clean and quality food to citizens is ongoing.
