ANANTNAG (Kashmir English): The authorities of the Indian administrated of Jammu and Kashmir have declared a flood in the river Jhelum as the water surpasses the danger level due to continuous rainfall.
According to a notification issued by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, the continuous rainfall from the nights of 25, 26, and 27 August has resulted in higher water levels, causing flooding in the river.
According to the Flood Control Division, Anantnag, the river has surpassed the danger mark at the Sangam Gauge with a level of 21.66 feet at 2:30 AM.
The Flood Zonal Committee decided on a thorough analysis of the circumstances. The river is flowing above the flood declaration mark, officials have warned, and precautions are being taken to reduce possible damage in areas that are at risk.
Additionally, increased inflow and ongoing rainfall are predicted to make matters worse. People who live near low-lying parts of the banks of the Jhelum have been urged to exercise caution and abide by safety regulations set forth by the local government.
