RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Fire engulfed the child ward and labour room of the CMH Rawalakot on the night between Monday and Tuesday.
According to details, the incident occurred at 12:45 AM. Upon receiving the information, Rescue 1122, Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade vehicles, district administration, and police immediately reached the spot and, after extensive efforts, brought the fire under control. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Immediately after the fire, CMH administration, police, and rescue agencies safely shifted patients, children, and women present in the child ward and labour room to other wards.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch Sardar Umar Farooq personally supervised the entire rescue operation.
Upon receiving news of the fire, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Minister of Finance and Inland Revenue Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, Advisor to the Government Sardar Ahmed Sagheer, along with other high officials, remained in contact with the district administration and received minute-by-minute updates regarding the rescue operation.
Due to the timely response and coordinated action of the rescue agencies, a major loss was averted. After extinguishing the fire, cooling and restoration process was performed. According to initial reports, the cause of the fire was a short circuit.
