ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad on July 7, 2025, where he addressed graduating officers of the National Security and War Course. Officers from all branches of the armed forces were part of the session.
During his speech, the Field Marshal highlighted the evolving nature of warfare, stressing that in order to face complex challenges effectively, mental preparedness, operational understanding, and institutional professionalism are essential.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir praised the role of top institutions like NDU in preparing future leadership capable of dealing with hybrid, conventional, and non-conventional threats, and emphasized the importance of civil-military harmony in ensuring national security.
Commenting on India’s recent Operation Sindoor, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir stated that India failed to achieve its declared military objectives. He noted that India’s attempts to justify the operation’s failure through illogical reasoning highlight its lack of operational readiness and strategic foresight.
He further added that India’s allegations of external support in Pakistan’s success during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos are irresponsible and factually incorrect. According to him, such accusations reflect India’s reluctance to acknowledge Pakistan’s success, which was achieved through decades of strategic planning, indigenous capability, and strong institutions.
The Field Marshal criticized India’s effort to involve other countries in what was clearly a bilateral military conflict, calling it a poor political tactic. He pointed out that this behavior comes at a time when many nations in the region are growing increasingly weary of India’s aggressive policies and Hindutva-driven ideology.
Reiterating Pakistan’s principled stance, he warned, “Any misadventure, violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty or territorial integrity will be met with an immediate and forceful response without hesitation.”
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir added that any attempt to target Pakistan’s population centers, military bases, economic hubs, or ports will receive a deep, painful, and more-than-proportional response. He emphasized that the responsibility for any escalation will lie solely with India, which fails to grasp the potential consequences of provoking a sovereign nuclear state.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir underscored that wars are not won by media talk, imported weaponry, or political slogans, but by firm belief, professional competence, operational clarity, institutional strength, and national resolve.
In conclusion, he expressed complete confidence in the professionalism, spirit, and combat readiness of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, urging the graduating officers to remain committed to integrity, selfless service, and unwavering dedication to the nation.
