ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government has announced a public holiday across Pakistan on Thursday, February 5, 2026, to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day.
According to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, all public and private offices will remain closed nationwide on Thursday.
Moreover, the notification added that all citizens across the country will observe a one-minute silence at 10:00 am to honor the Kashmiri martyrs. The day is observed annually as a symbol of unity and solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
A series of special events, including seminars, rallies, and prayer gatherings, will be organized in major cities and towns to highlight the Kashmir issue and express continued political and moral support.
Earlier, the government of Sindh also issued a public holiday on February 5, the Sindh Services, General Administration and Coordination Department said in a notification.
It added that all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, local councils, and corporations under provincial control will remain closed, except for essential services.
The Sindh notification directed all institutions to observe a one-minute silence at 10:00 am to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed annually to express Pakistan’s support for the people of Indian occupied Kashmir and to reaffirm their right to self-determination. The nation observes the occasion through public events, special programs, and seminars, which take place throughout the country.
