FAISALABAD (Kashmir English): The traffic plan has been finalised for the Pakistan-South Africa ODI series at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, set to start on Tuesday, November 03.
City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar said that the police had finalized comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming cricket series in Faisalabad.
The city is ready to host its first international cricket match after 17 years. The last international match played at this venue was the ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh on April 11, 2008.
The first match at the stadium will be played on November 4, the second match on November 6, and the third and final match on November 8.
A total of 16 ODIs have been played at this ground, out of which Pakistan has played 12, winning 9 and losing 3. South Africa has played 5 ODIs at Iqbal Stadium, with wins in only two of them.
Faisalabad traffic plan
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Faisalabad police said that elaborate measures had been taken to ensure the safety of the players, officials, and spectators throughout the event.
The traffic police said that during match days, Serena Road, Thandi Khoi Road, and Commissioner Complex Road would remain fully closed.
It further added that the authorities have set up three parking areas for spectators at the Equestrian Ground of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), the Irrigation Department office, and the Dhobi Ghat Ground.
The people from the Sheikhupura Road and Sargodha Road areas will park their vehicles at the Equestrian Ground of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF).
The Dhobi Ghat Ground parking will serve the vehicles coming from Jhang Road and surrounding areas, and the people of Samundri and Jaranwala roads will be allowed to park at the Irrigation Department office.
The citizens have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience and to cooperate with law enforcement personnel.
