ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Easypaisa Digital Bank will be able to make cross-border payments in over 100 currencies and receive remittances from over 100 countries around the world directly through their Easypaisa accounts.

This important development was announced by Easypaisa Digital Bank on the occasion of the first anniversary of its digital banking operations. Easypaisa Digital Bank hosted a dinner in honor of stakeholders at a local hotel, which was attended by federal ministers, policymakers, regulators, business figures, and media representatives.

The event was hosted by Board Chairman Irfan Wahab Khan, President of Ant International Douglas Fagan, and President and CEO of Easypaisa Digital Bank Jahanzeb Khan.

Speaking at the event, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja congratulated Easypaisa on completing one year as a digital bank.

He said that, as per the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the promotion of the digital economy is among the top priorities of the government, and coordinated and concrete steps are being taken for this purpose.

Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani said that the involvement of digital finance experts is essential for effective policy making, and bringing the practical benefits of a cashless economy to the public is the need of the hour.

According to Easypaisa Digital Bank, more than 3.8 billion transactions were made through the Easypaisa platform during the year 2025, with a total value exceeding Rs 1.5 trillion.

According to the organization’s data, digital transactions have now become equivalent to about 11 percent of Pakistan’s Gross National Product (GDP).

Easypaisa said that currently, one in five Pakistanis is an Easypaisa user, while women represent 31% of the total users, which shows Easypaisa’s role in promoting digital financial inclusion and women’s financial independence.

On this occasion, the launch of Easypaisa’s partnership with Ant International’s World First platform was also officially announced.

Under this partnership, Easypaisa users will now be able to make cross-border payments in over 100 currencies and receive remittances from over 100 countries around the world directly into their accounts.

This initiative will enable access beyond traditional remittance routes such as the Gulf countries, the UK, and the US, while providing fast, secure, and convenient financial services to freelancers, exporters, and overseas Pakistanis.

According to Easypaisa, this development is an important step towards connecting Pakistan’s digital financial system with international markets and further strengthening the country’s digital economy.
