ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A 5.9 earthquake has jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, on Thursday night.
The National Seismic Monitoring Center of the Meteorological Department said that many other cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces felt the quake.
The tremors were witnessed in Nowshera, Kohat, Peshawar, Malakand, Bajaur, Swat, Mansehra, Attock, Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Muzaffarabad, and other cities across the northern parts of the country.
The seismic center reported that the epicenter of the quake was the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan at a depth of 111 kilometres. It was recorded at 9:56 pm (PST), according to the PMD.
No immediate reports of casualties or damage have been received.
