Each AJK constituency to get 30km of link roads

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government had decided that each of its constituency will get 30 kilometer of link roads as a development package.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Development Committee for the fiscal year 2025-26 that was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Tuesday.

As many as 44 projects worth over Rs34.85 billion for the Communication and Works Department, Public Health Department, Education Department, Local Government Department, Energy and Water Resources Department, Information Technology Department, and Food Department were approved.

In the meeting, three projects from the Education Department, two from the Energy and Water Resources Department, one from the Information Technology Department, one from the Food Department, four from the Public Health Department, one from Higher Education, and 35 projects from the Communication and Works Department were presented.

The meeting was held on Tuesday at the New Secretariat. In the meeting, major development projects related to health, food, electricity, information technology, local government, higher education, education, and communication and construction sectors were approved.

The most senior Minister Mian Abdul Waheed, government ministers, Chief Secretary Khushal Khan, and government secretaries attended the meeting.

In the development review meeting, important decisions were made regarding equipping youth with IT skills according to modern requirements, providing basic facilities to the public, improving the health system, enhancing the educational infrastructure, and making the road network more effective.

Establishment of IT Excellence Centres in AJK

In the meeting, 30 kilometers of link roads per constituency were approved for all constituencies of Azad Kashmir. The establishment of IT Excellence Centres was also approved to provide employment opportunities for the youth of Azad Kashmir.

Additionally, grid stations were approved in Pattakha Tehsil Naseerabad and Jabbi Bhimber. Similarly, the construction of warehouses for flour stock at various locations in Azad Kashmir was also approved.

In the meeting, the approval was given for filling the gaps in educational institutions and constructing additional rooms for primary classes.

The meeting expressed the commitment that all projects will be completed in a timely, transparent, and quality manner so that the public can benefit from them as soon as possible.

Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, addressing the development review meeting, said that improving health, education, and infrastructure in Azad Kashmir is among the government’s top priorities.

“Steps have been taken to improve the health sector, and the approved development projects have been formulated keeping in view public needs, which will enable the provision of basic facilities to remote and urban populations.”
