MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a recent development, the drivers and workers in Muzafafarbad have announced a protest against the government and district administrations due to their decision to shut down the Showai Crushing Plant.
The protestors have threatened the government that they will close various key routes in the city including roads from Kohala to Barrakot if their demands are not met within two days.
According to the protestors, the government has illegally shut down the crushing plant as it does not violate any law, the plant does not contribute to increasing pollution and the owners pay taxes timely.
The government and district administration’s decision to close the crushing plant has impacted the lives of hundreds of drivers, workers, and their families leaving them without a means to financially support themselves.
The protestors are urging the government to reopen the plant or to provide them with a meaningful source of income so that they can live a better life in this era of inflation.
The government needs to take notice of the situation and find a solution that works for everyone involved.
