ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The 5G service will be available for use in Pakistan starting on Eid al-Fitr when the country introduces its 5G networks to major urban areas.

Users want to know if their phones show 5G support with the question. 5G networks will require users to have a smartphone that meets network requirements for both hardware and frequency bands.

Check Your Phone Settings

You need to access the settings menu and proceed to the mobile network section, where you establish your preferred network type.

Your phone supports 5G when you view network options that include 5G, 4G, and 3G, and 5G Auto and 5G Only.

4G/LTE devices will not work because they lack the required features. All users who own iPhones 11 or newer devices will have access to 5G technology.

Verify Online Specifications

The model number resides in the Settings section, where you select About Phone.

5G compatibility information can be found by searching your model number on the official brand website or the GSMArena platform.

The information you need to find exists in the section that shows network requirements.

Use IMEI to Check Band Support

Dial *#06# to get your IMEI.

You need to use IMEI Info services to check whether your device can use local 5G frequency bands.

Certain phone models come equipped with 5G hardware, but they cannot connect to the 5G network in Pakistan.

Look for the 5G Symbol

The 5G icon should show up in the status bar when your phone detects a 5G network in the area.

The absence of the icon does not indicate device incompatibility because network coverage and system limitations can stop it from appearing.

 Update Your Software

Manufacturers provide 5G technology through system upgrades, which they distribute to their customers.

Users must visit the Settings menu and choose Software Update to download the newest version, which activates 5G capabilities.

The following steps allow users to verify 5G network readiness while preparing for Pakistan’s forthcoming advanced mobile communication system launch.

How will 5 G spectrum benefit mobile users?

This auction means that mobile companies in Pakistan now have the digital pathways or spectrum for 5G signals.

This will not only increase internet speed many times over but also significantly reduce problems like call drops. Lots of different frequencies were sold in the auction.

700 MHz: Two out of 3 lots of this band were sold. This band is especially known for transmitting signals through walls and providing excellent internet service in remote areas.

2300 and 2600 MHz: All available lots of both these bands were sold. This indicates that companies are focusing on handling the increasing number of users in large cities and improving video streaming.

3500 MHz: This is called the golden band of 5G. The government offered 28 lots in this band, out of which 22 were sold. This band will be responsible for providing lightning-fast speed on your mobile.

Companies invested heavily to buy these spectrums in the auction. For example, the price of one lot of 2100 MHz was up to 7 crore dollars.

Although companies showed less interest in some older bands (1800 and 2100 MHz), the complete sale of modern 5G bands is proof that Pakistan will soon enter the 5G era.

Now, mobile companies will upgrade their towers using this spectrum, after which common users will be able to benefit from 5G services.
